What is the idea behind Bahuckel?
Software that is transparent and self-hosted. You run the server; you control retention, moderation, and who gets access. We do not operate a central service that reads your messages.
Do you track users or collect analytics?
No. Zero tracking and no data collection on our side for self-hosted instances. We do not have access to your server’s chats or user database. This website sets no cookies either.
Is the code open source?
Bahuckel Relay is MIT-licensed. BahuckelDiag is proprietary and headed for paid tiers. Each project page says which applies.
Why self-hosting?
You pick the hardware, jurisdiction, and policies. Backups, uptime, and compliance with local law are your responsibility on your deployment, which also means freedom from vendor lock-in.
Can you help me set up a VPS?
Often, yes. We can help get a small VPS configured (reverse proxy, TLS, the basics) for a modest fee. Reach out via the contact page. Most people manage on their own with the docs.
What ports does Bahuckel Relay need?
One TCP port for HTTPS (put it behind a reverse proxy or a Cloudflare Tunnel) and one UDP port for voice and video. Both are configurable.
Is there a warranty?
The software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. See the disclaimer in the footer.
Can I sell Bahuckel or run it as a paid hosted service?
Relay is MIT, so the licence allows it, but we ask that you keep the notices intact and do not present it as an official Bahuckel service. For BahuckelDiag, no: it is proprietary.
