What is the idea behind Bahuckel?
Software that is transparent and self-hosted. You run the server; you control retention, moderation, and who gets access. There is no central service, so there is nothing of yours for me to read.
Do you track users or collect analytics?
No. Nothing I ship collects anything, with one exception: the Android version of Beltbreaker shows ads you choose to watch, and Google, who serves them, collects data for them (its privacy policy says what). I have no access to your server’s chats or user database - it is your machine. This website shows no ads and does not track you. Cloudflare, which serves it, counts page visits without cookies, and sets its own security cookies to tell people from bots. They are not used to follow anyone, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Is the code open source?
Bahuckel Hub and the free Bahuckel Diag Basic edition (not published yet) are Apache-2.0, and Claudinator is MIT. EDEXO’s code is non-commercial from 1.3.0 (PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0, with two permissions of my own: streamers may show it in monetised content, and a non-commercial fork may take donations); releases up to 1.2.20 stay MIT, and its data is CC BY-NC-SA 3.0, as part of it comes from EDAstro. Bahuckel Diag’s paid Enterprise edition is under the Elastic License 2.0 with an end-user licence agreement. Each project page says which applies.
Why self-hosting?
You pick the hardware, jurisdiction, and policies. Backups, uptime, and compliance with local law are your responsibility on your deployment, which also means freedom from vendor lock-in.
Do you build software to order?
Yes. Fixed price agreed up front, from a small store page to internal tools and self-hosted replacements for things you rent; small jobs are sometimes free, and you own the result. See the Commission page, or open a ticket with “Something new” as the project.
Can you help me set up a VPS?
Often, yes. I can get a small VPS configured (reverse proxy, TLS, the basics) for a modest fee - see the Commission page, or just ask through the contact page. Most people manage on their own with the docs.
What ports does Bahuckel Hub need?
One TCP port for HTTPS and the WebSocket, which you can put behind a reverse proxy or a tunnel, plus UDP ports for voice and for video, which cannot go through an HTTP proxy. All of them are configurable.
Why does Windows warn the first time I run EDEXO?
EDEXO is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen does not know who published it and calls the publisher unrecognised. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”; it asks only the first time. To be sure the file is the one I published, compare its SHA-256 digest with the one GitHub records for it: “Verify a file”, in the Download button’s menu, opens the release page that lists them.
Is there a warranty?
The software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. See the disclaimer in the footer.
Can I sell Bahuckel or run it as a paid hosted service?
Bahuckel Hub is Apache-2.0, so yes: sell it, host it, build on it. The licence asks you to keep the NOTICE file and mark the files you changed, and it does not cover the Bahuckel name or mark, so a modified version needs its own name and must not present itself as an official Bahuckel service. For Bahuckel Diag Enterprise, no: its Elastic License 2.0 does not allow offering it as a hosted or managed service. The free Basic edition will be Apache-2.0 like Hub once it is published.
